Oral surgery

Also known as odontostomatic surgery, it is a branch of dentistry that deals with a whole range of surgical interventions that can be performed within the oral cavity and that can be related to a variety of problems.

Oral surgery

In our dental practice we perform all kind of surgical interventions:

frenectomy

Frenectomy is a routine procedure performed when frenelum is attached too closely to the upper gums in order to prevent gums retracting, parodonthopathy at juncture and diastema (gap between teeth). Intervention is painless and lasts fifteen minutes.

Apicoectomy

Apicoectomy is a surgical procedure whereby a tooth root tip and the cyst or a granulation tissue inside the root is removed. The procedure includes mandatory treatment of root canal where the infection started.

Gingivectomy

Gingivectomy is a surgical procedure of excision of gingiva. Only the part of gingiva representing the soft pocket wall is removed. Gingivectomy provides corrections and restoration of gingival contour. After intervention dentist shall provide necessary instructions, nutrition regime and medical treatment (antibiotics and analgetics).

Sinus lifting

Sinus lifting is a surgical procedure whereby the sinus floor is lifted up and the artificial bone is then placed which enables implant insertion after several months.

Bone augmentation

Bone augmentation or adding of bone to the jaw where it is missing is a standard surgical technique within implantology performed for minor bone defects when we use resorbable membranes and artificial bone or autotransplant. The procedure is performed several months before implant insertion in order to provide necessary conditions for their insertion.

Extraction of teeth

Tooth extraction is an oral surgical intervention that represents the last solution in solving dental problems; it is carried out when there is no other option left. In any case, it is always up to the dentist to decide whether to go for tooth extraction or not.
